An ultrasound performed on a 56 year-old woman with a history of blockage of the intestines revealed a 2 cm cyst on the left ovary. With normal CA125 levels, the patient was scheduled for control after 3 months. In the second ultrasound, a suspicious 7mm vegetation was found, raising the possibility of cancer. A subsequent MRI test did not find the vegetations but showed fibroids in the uterus, which led to surgery being performed. Pathology however showed a benign ovarian cyst.

The HistoScanning™ analysis was negative, indicating no malignant patterns. If used in clinical setting, HistoScanning™ may have reduced the need for the MRI in the process of differential pre surgery diagnosis.
Ultrasound examination showed an asymptomatic adnexal mass of the left ovary but CA125 level was normal.
HistoScanning™ analysis of the left ovary showed an ovarian cyst, with no suspicious indications for malignancy (no red dots).
